The Chief Advancement Officer leads and integrates People Serving People’s fundraising, communications, and community engagement strategies to advance the organization’s mission and vision. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and serving on the executive leadership team, the CAO will oversee a small but dedicated team responsible for individual and institutional giving, donor stewardship, and communications. This position will provide strategic leadership for the design and execution of a three-year, $20 million comprehensive campaign and ensure consistent, values-aligned messaging across all external platforms.


The ideal candidate will be a values-driven and equity-grounded leader who combines fundraising acumen with storytelling expertise. They will bring a deep understanding of community-centric philanthropy and the ability to authentically engage diverse partners, donors, and stakeholders in support of PSP’s vision for systemic change.


Qualifications


Required

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, and/or communications, including management responsibility.
  • Proven success securing major gifts and leading complex fundraising initiatives or campaigns.
  • Demonstrated commitment to racial equity, cultural humility, and community-centric fundraising principles.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and storytelling.
  • Experience managing and developing staff teams and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Strategic thinker with strong planning, budgeting, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with donor management software (Salesforce preferred) and Microsoft/Google Suites.
  • Background in housing, family services, or related social impact sectors.
  • Experience serving as a senior leader or executive in a nonprofit organization.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed and equity-centered communications practices.
