Community Action Center (CAC) has served as a trusted anchor in Rice County for more than 50 years, addressing food insecurity, housing instability, and economic hardship through integrated services grounded in equity, dignity, and shared power. Serving nearly 18,000 residents each year, CAC combines direct service, advocacy, and community leadership to strengthen stability and opportunity for those most impacted by inequities.


The next Executive Director will steward CAC's strong foundation and guide its next chapter, providing strategic, operational, and cultural leadership across a $6 million organization.


The ideal candidate is a steady, relational leader who can honor CAC’s community-rooted legacy while guiding continued growth and alignment with clarity, empathy, and strong execution.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated 8+ years of progressive leadership experience in a nonprofit, public, or community-based organization with increasing organizational complexity.
  • Experience working within or alongside systems related to housing stability, housing management, food insecurity, income supports, or other community-based basic needs services, with an understanding of how policy, funding, and lived experience intersect.
  • Strong alignment with equity-based, community-led approaches, including shared power and accountability to those most impacted.
  • Experience managing or overseeing budgets, grants, and financial systems in a mission-driven environment.
  • A leadership style grounded in collaboration, trustbuilding, and clear communication.
  • Experience supporting and developing teams, including leaders with diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.
  • Comfort navigating change, growth, and transition with steadiness and care for people and systems. 


Compensation: $160,000 - $185,000. More details in the full position profile.
