The Senior Director of Government Affairs and Communications serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and leads Medical Alley’s state and federal advocacy strategy, policy engagement, and communications efforts. This role advances the organization’s priorities by building strong relationships with policymakers, member organizations, and industry leaders while elevating the visibility and influence of Medical Alley’s work. The position also oversees communications strategy, supports member engagement and growth connected to policy and advocacy efforts, and manages internal and external contributors supporting the organization’s government affairs initiatives.


The ideal candidate brings significant experience in government affairs, public policy, or advocacy leadership and is energized by building relationships across the public and private sectors. They are a strategic communicator and connector who can navigate complex policy environments, engage executive-level stakeholders, and represent organizational priorities with credibility and clarity. This individual is collaborative, self-directed, and comfortable balancing advocacy, communications, relationship management, and business development responsibilities within a fast-moving, mission-driven organization.


Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree required with focus in Government studies
  • 7+ years government relations experience at the State level
  • 3+ years management experience of direct reports
  • Executive presence with outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong relationship building skills across C-suite organization levels
  • Experience contributing to new business development, including identifying, cultivating, and advancing partnership or membership opportunities
  • Strategic thinker who is creative, collaborative, high energy and concise
  • Dedicated to quality service with strong regard for ethics and integrity
  • Health industry experience preferred


Compensation: $155,000 - $175,000 and a very comprehensive benefits package. More details in the full position profile.
